Default Honda VLX 600

Hello,

I am salivating, drooling over a Honda VLX, used, several in my budget. Now that you have that information , here is some information about myself and a few questions.

I have driven (ridden) 150cc/250cc bikes from Bajaj, Honda etc. here in the US and India but have never really owned a bike so my experience is somewhat limited. I have also driven Vespas and feel pretty comfortable on them, even more so than motorbikes. I will most certainly complete the two day beginners MSF course and plan to get my license that way as well. I am 5'6, 180lbs.

Would this still classify me as a beginner?

For my weight and height class, is the VLX too big or is it ok?

I really don't want a 250cc because I already know their limitations but don't really know too many offerings between 250 and 600, there seems to be a big jump.

I am looking for a reputable company. I have had zero trouble with Honda cars and I am not the tinkerer type. Just want something that runs with regular maintenance at the dealer.

Most importantly, do any of you have your kids ride with you on your motorbikes? My wife seems to be absolutely horrified about the whole idea.

I had a dealer trying to sell me a VT750. To me, it just didn't feel right. VLX seems to be ok but I can't testdrive it at any of the dealers here. What kind of crap is that anyway?

Appreciate your input.

Sunny
