Default HD Saddlebag Theft on the Rise

I've heard that the boom in saddlebag speaker systems has created a demand for hard bags by theft rings. They just pop the mounting clips off with a screwdriver. It doesn't matter if the bags are locked or not. To prevent theft, you can hard mount bags with a 1/4" bolt rather than use the stock quick detach clips. Road King Classic saddlebags are spared, apparently because the leather bags are not in as high a demand.

You're right about the leather Road King bags! I HATED the ones on my Road King Classic, and to think HD charges MORE for them! I would have gladly swapped mine for a set of hard bags!

Thanks for the heads-up, Geoff. I've always keep my bags locked to keep them from being stolen but I guess I'm just fooling myself.
I hate a thief.
Would it be wrong to hook an expolosive device to the bag?

These are supposed to make them more secure. Kinda expensive for what looks like parts you can cobble togeather at the auto parts store, But if it works.

Riders who listen to music from fairing or bag mounted speakers bug me just as much as those inconsiderate idiots who blast music in their cars loud enough for me to hear.

Same here.

Guys are spending crazy money on amps, speakers, etc. so they can hear music over their loud pipes. Gonna laugh out loud the day someone pulls next to me blasting show tunes. Harley's Lifestyle marketing campaign has attracted all types to the marque, ya know.

It's not like it's me stealing speakers from saddlebags. I don't care if you listen to tunes on your bike or in your car, but some people who do should be a lot more considerate about it. The bandana head blasting country music from his Harley is just as irritating as the gangsta' doufus blasting rap music.

If you're doing it, you should be more considerate to people who don't want to listen to it. It's sonic litter.

Disagree completely. NOTHING is as irritating as gangsta rap. I would rather listen to puppies falling into a wood chipper.

I'm with Buelligan but I have to say that was FUNNY!

As expensive as the bikes are they should put in one of the speed sensing systems that they put in convertibles where the sound is automatically lowered as the bike slows down.
