Default Greatest Roadrace in the World?

When I was growing up it was Daytona, thats not the case now.

So which one is it? Which one makes the most money?, draws the most attendance?

On TV, Abu Dhabi is the most spectacular. In attendance... I'm not sure thats the case.

If you are talking about a true road race, as in running on real roads, then the Isle of Man TT is the 'Greatest' by a large margin, followed by the North West 200.

If you are talking about 'Greatest' in terms of perceived importance of a single race, then it would still be the Isle of Man TT, since there is no SINGLE race in the various national or world series that stands out as the greatest.

The Suzuka 8-hour was the Greatest as far as Japanese home country fans were concerned, but that has faded ...

If you are talking Greatest in terms of paid attendance, that would likely still be the Isle of Man TT, but one of the European rounds of MotoGP or WSBK might win here - possibly Mugello in MotoGP.

It would be nice to see an American race become the Greatest once again. Maybe that new track in Austin, Texas, might turn out to be the world-attracting gem some feel it promises to be.

You're probably right about IOM, or that would be my guess too. No need to start the argument about road vs track, I define it like most other Americans, asphalt.

Motocross is way bigger than roadracing in the USA. Motocross rules!

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner.

The IOM is on the top of my bucket list. If I decide to play the lottery and win the second thing I'm going to do is get my tickets for the ferry ride over (first being to sign the contract to a contractor to build my pole barn/dream home in Arkansas).
