Default How is this a scooter?

It weighs as much as my Intruder 1400.

(Beautiful pic, by theway.)

The lines are blurring between cycle and scooter, what with more equal wheel sizes, brakes, weight.
Maybe CW could publish some road test data on scooters, showing differences (or similarities?) in handling, ergos, etc. I remember when it was sort of an inside joke to call one's HD a "scoot."

Some forum members have complained for a long time that the press has imposed too many sub-category terms on us, like cruiser and sport-tourer. Should we drop scooter or add crossover? Or should we redefine scooter to a imply 2-wheeler with the engine somewhere other than between the shins?

Please don't call it a crossover.

No more crossovers, please.

Crossovers, crossovers, crossovers! I'm sick of hearing about crossovers!

Please don't call it a crossover, I'm begging you.

Yeah, me too.

I imagine what makes that a scooter is the step-through feature in the design. This never made much sense to me on scooters. It seems like the space would be better utilized for lockable storage for a helmet and jacket, especially on a what is essentially a commuter/city vehicle.

I was thinking more in the typical small displacement scooters. The step through only makes sense if you're riding with a skirt.

There are probably a lot more women riding scooters in skirts in Europe... but I've never once seen one in the US.

I finally found the article. Sounds a lot like the Burgman 650 to me. Gotta wonder about the price, though - not that I'm that interested.

Crossover, crossover, crossover.

A scooter has a step-through frame and a floorboard. Any other aspects of the machine that resemble a motorcycle are purely coincidental.

What is it crossing over?

Since it seems to be crossing over from a scooter to a full dresser, call it a crossdresser.
