Default What happened to the Honda VFR1200T

Last year their was a lot of noise and pictures of a new Honda Sport Touring bike, the VFR1200T. What happened to it? Not only has it not materialized I haven't seen or heard anything else about it. Has anyone heard anything? Any news?

Apparently a victim of the current economic slowdown, the VFR1200T is expected to appear this Fall.

Features are rumored to include an air bag, as well as associated "crumple-zones" to aid in keeping the rider within the airbag area instead of being thrown over the handlebars.

An economy feature may be cylinder deactivation as a fuel saving device.

Hmmm ... I hope there is some sort of 'threshold' that needs to be crossed for those zones to crumple and airbag to deploy, otherwise a 5 mph 'oops' will find the VFR totaled.

But seriously, why couldn't Honda just add a bigger fuel tank to the existing VFR1200F and include hard bags in the price? Stick basic anti-slip at the rear ala the Concours 14 and that would satisfy most of the 'well, buts ...' that have stifled sales.

I haven't even seen the standard VFR 1200 yet. Not that I was looking, but I think I would have noticed.

Well, my local dealer said they have no word on when or if the VFR1200T will debut. They do have a VFR1200F but at the price they're asking, they can keep it for what you get. They also have a DN-01 on the sales floor. They told me it's name stands for "Do Not Order 1! I would have to agree!

Ditto,

overpriced, low power output, and looks like crap imo.

Same here. I have not seen a single VFR 1200 on the road since it was released. The price tag is scaring people away. Who does Honda think they are, BMW?

Good question.

Honda likely smelled fear and went back to the drawing board after the BMW K1600GT was releaed.

It's been a long while since the K75 was new, and prices for everything are way up over that time scale. Bikes, sadly, are not excepted ...

K75srider, it's time you Wake Up and smell the expensive imported coffee
