WHAT!?
YOU WANT ENGINE NOISE!?

I SAID "# 7 CYLINDERS PORT SIDE INJECTOR IS HANGING UP AGAIN!!"
HOW CAN YOU TELL?
YOU FEEL IT THROUGH THE DECK FIRST, THEN YOU HOLD YOUR EAR AGAINST THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE UNTIL YOU FIND IT!!

Add in two 6-71 gen-sets, air compressor, boiler, feed pumps, hydraulics, etc.

TINNITIS!!??
Ya reckon?

Have to say- if I ws going for speed, I'd get a girl to ride. That guy looks pretty big.

I would love to hear a conversation with you and AceCafe on the RE forum. He loves to monkey around with his engine, but I'm not sure how sound some of his ideas are. Like he was discussing velocity stack length and how it efects tuning, whereas someone else I know (and I think you do too) says that it doesn't really matter that much, but length between the carb and head does. It's all over my head, of course. I think a stack for everyday use is nuts, though.
Yea, AceCafe was emailing me non-stop about HIS idea for aero-tricks during the build of the bonnie bike. I tried to let him down easily and also show him our coast-down numbers and he just would change the subject until he was back in his comfort zone (my take on his antics).

Having said that, I don't think he was wrong, just throwing out stuff that didn't apply to our package.

There is all kinds of published data on intake length and velocity stacks but in the real world what you learn very quickly is that available space and packaging takes over and a compromise is reached depending on the time allotted to pull off such well thought out systems.

Don't get me wrong, AceCafe is no idiot and seems to be well schooled, he falls into the same trap as most all of us..."Idealitus".

I dropped out of the BulletMod Yahoo group because of what we were doing was so race specific and they all wanted to argue each and every little point to death after I would post our findings. I'm not looking for strokes, just more speed and I have to be able to get it done in a finite amount of time...
The guy to listen to is Marty Nissen. He's got it going on upstairs.

Yes, Johnny got jeers from us for his girth and he has a problem holding his head back when he's down on the tank. He went through the traps with his head turned to the side and buzzing on the filler cap, and followed the lines and markers. Dan ran only 104.5 on the same bike with his head up a bit. Aero drag can be a "real drag" man.

Mark Brownlee thin and fit and fully tucked into the fairing on the bonnie bike went 104.5 in only fourth gear and 4600 rpm and sputtering something awful. On the dyno, we had the wheel spinning 147 mph with that same bike! We found the problem at tech tear down (burned exhaust valve seat) on the day we had to leave. Sigh.

A side note for the horse power number aficionados, The bonnie bike made only 38.7 hp on gas and showed 67.5 on a 40lb./hour shot of nitrous. We only saw that number once and called it good...We were running out of time to hit the road and had a big sponsor to please.

Kevin Mahoney has made arrangements with Dan to buy the bonnie bike and hopes to return loaded for bear. Maybe I'll get to tag along.
