<div>Have not rode one yet but may buy one soon, or may go with 2007 Kawasaki ZX 6R. Can't decide but have researched the Suzuki extensively on the net this last week and it gets nothing but rave reviews from everyone! No luck getting to test drive one though, go figure!!!</div>

<div>GSXR-750? Arguably one the best, if not the best, sportbike ever.</div><div> </div><div>Whether or not you should buy one depends how you intend to ride. It'll be expensive to insure, but not as bad as a GSXR-1000. Not a great around-town bike, but killer on the track &amp; great in the canyons.</div>

<div></div><div>Grym, in another thread you allude to having a gixxer 750 now on this thread you are asking opinions on it. Do you have it or don't you? If you do are you paying ins. on it, or just riding it and to hell with the consequences like you referred to in your other thread. I would suggest if you can not afford several thou in ins. buy a different bike! If you can not afford the insurance I can not understand why you keep trying to justify this bike to yourself.</div><br><br>Message Edited by grizz0844 on <span class="date_text">04-19-2007</span> <span class="time_text">09:33 AM</span>

<div>I bought a 06' 750 a few months back.</div><div> </div><div>Coming from mostly a literbike background I thought I may be disappointed.</div><div> </div><div>However the 750 does everything well.</div><div> </div><div>Mine pulls canyon, and track duty. Does it pull like a Busa, no. However it is no slouch, and boy does it handle.</div>

<div>Are you going to let the bike sit until you can afford the insurance? Why the rush for a full on Race Replica? There are plenty of bikes that you won't outgrow in a few months ie. ZZR 600 or YZF 600 or F4i. Good used ones around even new they will not hurt as much on insurance as the 750.</div>

<div>not sure how you plan on buying one without insurance...if you finance the thing, insurance is a MUST before we will let you ride it off the showroom (at least at our dealership, that's the policy). I guess if you pay cash straight up for it, then you can probably ride off without insurance. But if you have an extra $9000 cash just lying around, i'll assume you have a little more for insurance.</div><div> </div><div>hopefully you have another $1000 lying around for a good helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, and pants. Otherwise it will be another $20,000 when you get to the hospital (if you're one of the lucky ones).</div>

They grumbled the whole time about it being mandatory because they weren't 21, and talked about the sportbikes they already owned and rode even without having a license yet. They reveled in the latest Ghost Rider DVDs and talked about whose 370lb bike was faster.</div><div> </div><div>They also all passed the class, too. I wish them well and sincerely hope they are all still alive today. I pass that same hope to you.<br></div><div></div>

<div></div><div><p><span>The class was not mandatory for me i choice to take the class to make me a better rider and it helped me a lot i don't own a bike yet, i talked to my dad and he said i should start with the 600cc. i always fallow what my dad says and that's what ima do. ill tell u right now i like speed but i know how to control myself...... I'm not trying to get a bike to go crazy on it I'm just getting one to go around town and get some numbers if u know what i mean...... I'm also planning in the future to buy a Harley i always loved those bikes and they are great........ anyways i want to become a better rider not get killed for been stupid</span></p></div>

<div>I never thought I would hear myself say this. Why not start on the Harley then one of the sporsters would be good. I know the 1200 is a big engine but it is a completely different type of engine and has different characteristics. You could get one of those for around the same price as the 600 or 750. The insurance might still be a little pricey but nothing compared to the gixxers. I do not think you would have a problem getting the ladies to ride on the back of an H-D or to ride you, which seems to be your primary goal. Then again when I was a teenager it was mine as well.;)</div>

<div>a 1200 sporty makes what...like 80 hp? for even a tame 600 sport bike we are talking 90+, and they are about 200 lbs lighter. </div><div> </div><div>Good on you for taking the MSF course, Its a fantastic program, and more riders should take it. However, passing it does not mean the next step is a supersport bike. I passed my drivers license test when I was 16, but to my surprise Michael Schumacher wasn't there to offer me his spot for the next F1 race. I humbly got back in my V6 chevy lumina.</div><div><br>BUT, since you have your mind made up, I might as well answer some of your questions. First off, I'd definaly go used first...used sportbikes are a great way to have your first mishap, and not ruin your new $8500 plastic bike. Suzuki Katanas of the used variety are all over the place, and you can have a mid 90's version with less than 20,000 miles for about $2000. They have more than enough power for just about anything (even track days), but also have good power delivery throughout the RPM range. The air/oil cooled engines are tough enough to handle anything, and easier to work on than a modern liquid cooled injected unit. The pre '98 versions feel lighter and easier to handle to me...I also find them more attractive than the bubbly plastic things the new ones have become.</div><div><br>Ditto for 90's CBR's, except you can expect to pay a bit more, and also expect to find more models that have been abused. These were the flagship middleweights at some point...they have been used as such. same goes for YZF600s and early R6's. </div><div><br>If you must go new...I don't really even know what to tell you. None of them are good beginner bikes, but i'd have to say the Katanas would be the best. next the YZF600R, and finally the CBR600F4I. The F4I is the rocket ship of the bunch....for a while it would even beat an RR in the quarter mile, not sure if that is still true.</div>

<div></div><div>The GSX-R750 is the, how should I put this perfectly???, the PERFECT Streetbike...Period. Just ask all those who have ridden one.</div><div>Where a 1000 will jump up and bite you in the ass, a Gixxer 750 will thank you, bend over, and ask for some more. More power then a 600, but not too much that it will have you spinning up the rear wheel as easily as a 1000. Its Perfect. Too bad AMA and WSBK dont race this class anymore cuz it would be nice to have more to chose from then just Suzuki (nothing wrong with Suzuki, they are awesome bikes, I just like to have more then one make to chose from). It would be nice to see a CBR750RR IMHO. But for 2up riding I do prefer a 1000.</div><br><br>Message Edited by Realmanken on <span class="date_text">04-24-2007</span> <span class="time_text">04:14 PM</span>

<div></div><div></div><div>sqwidly:</div><div>Was the Gixxer 600 your first motorcycle? I ask this because there are alot of new riders on here who are asking whether a 600 cc supersport motorcycle is ok as a first bike.</div><br><br>Message Edited by Realmanken on <span class="date_text">04-26-2007</span> <span class="time_text">05:08 PM</span>
