<div></div><div>I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, no matter where you go you are going to pay a lot for insurance. You are 20 and you are on a gixxer all the ins. companies know what it is. You could go to progressive and see what they can do some folks have also had luck with Geico. Good Luck.</div><div> </div><div>O. K. I did some checking you might get a slightly different quote because of where you live and coverage differences but w/ collision ans comprehensive/$500 you are looking at $2,366/yr. That is from progressive. Of course do not take that number as gospel call around to ins. agents see if your car ins. also takes motorcycles.</div><p>Message Edited by grizz0844 on <span class="date_text">04-12-2007</span><span class="time_text">07:57 PM</span></p>

<div>In your post you said you are getting a gixxer 750. Am I to infer the deal is not done yet? If not do yourself a big favor and get some quotes on ins. As you can see from my above post it can be pricey.</div><div>With your age you are going to pay more than those of us who only have fond memories of our 20's. </div><div>If you have not bought the bike look for a lower cc size engine or different type ride, NOT A FULL ON RACE REPLICA. You are only 20 there will be plenty of time in a few years to get the race replica.</div>

<div> </div><div>U-R fuct, insurance-wise. You belong to the demographic that crashes, and you pick the bike that crashes.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Might want to take a second look at a Ninja 500. $2,300+ dollars fer nothing per year!</div>

<div><font size="2"><p>WTF ever happened to punctuation? Proper sentence structure? Actually capitalizing the first letter of the first word of a sentence?</p><p>Bah! **bleep** kids stay off my lawn.</p><p>Anyway, back to the answer...you're doomed. Try all the majors; State Farm, Farmer's, AAA, and even USAA if you or either of your parents were in the military.</p><p>You can lower your insurance rate if you take the MSF Rider Course. You can also lower your insurance rate with a good student discount, too (but judging from your posts that may not be an option. I'm just saying...).</p><p>If you haven't purchased the GSX-R750 yet, you may want to purchase a late model GSX-R600 that is used (Dude, they are still siiiiick) so you only have to carry liability insurance instead of full coverage <font size="2">like you would on a new machine that is financed</font>.</p><p>Last, if either of your parents ride you have them register the bike in their name and then they add you as a secondary rider to their insurance policy on the bike.</p><p>Either way, good luck to you.</p></font></div>

<div>A few years ago I was active on a sport bike forum, that is no longer around or it's name has changed, not sure, I think it was sportbike.com. Anyway, guys that lived in New York complained that the price for full coverage for a liter sport bike owned by a 20 year old in that city was basically the same as the value of the bike each year. I always found it hard to believe but that is what more than one New York rider reported.</div>

<div>I expect you are too old to remain on your parents' insurance (some allowances for students perhaps?) but perhaps you can get a bit of a break by using their established company.</div><div> </div><div>As others have said, you are pretty well screwed due to your age and the bike. I don't know your riding experience or if you've bought the GSXR yet. Depending on both, I might steer you instead to a new GS500. They have very good power for a new rider but you won't outgrow it for awhile. The insurance should be much more manageable. Even better, the last few years have plastic cladding and many young ladies would never know the difference between it and the &quot;R&quot;.</div><div> </div><div>Food for thought.</div>

<div>Come on Wolf there are some young ladies who know the diff. Of course, they probably have their own bike and wouldn't need to ride on his anyway.</div>

Back when the Ninja 1000R first came out, I had my insurance agent look up the price just for chuckles. It was aound $4,000 per year. The bike cost under $5,000 new. A V-Max was even worse. A GS1150 (quicker through the quarter mile than Max) was almost affordable.</div><div> </div><div> </div>

Come on guys You don't really think he's gonna get a chick on the back of a sportbike ???? He'd be guilty of torture ... Sportbikes ain't for picking up chicks.

I'm sure there's plenty young enough to still love sportbikes. ;)</div><div> </div><div>Oh, and I don't think it's the motorcycle he's hoping they'll ride on.</div><br><br>Message Edited by Wolf on <span class="date_text">04-13-2007</span> <span class="time_text">12:45 PM</span>

<div></div><div>Questions:</div><div> </div><ol><li>Do you have an C class license, if so, how long?</li><li>Do you have an M1 class license, if so, how long?</li><li>Do you have a car?</li><li>Do you have insurance on your car?</li><li>Have you ever had any speeding tickets, accidents, etc.?</li></ol><p>When I bought my '02 SVS, new, I had my driver's license for about seven years, and my M1 for three years; I had a clean driving record (I live in CA). I bought full coverage--coll./comp. on my SVS, and liability on my '79 GS1000, I paid less than four hundred a year through McGraw. I'm not an insurance broker, I found McGraw through a magazine, maybe CW; you can easily research it. With the gix-sev, at twenty, you will pay out the arse; there is no way around that.</p>

<div><strong><u>Do Not Buy The Gixxer!!!!!!!</u></strong></div><div> </div><div>I did a little more checking. Once again do not take this a gospel but that cute little gecko quoted a 20yr old good driving record, unmarried w/ $500 ded. bodily injury etc. at 100,000/300,000, my bank wanted me to have that on my so I used it for yours, at $<strong><em><u>7,125</u></em></strong> for the year. I am going to guess I hit a button wrong in there somewhere but still, Holy Crap. Get a bike w/o an R or RR in the name dude.</div>

<div>I have to agree with everyone in this forum. You will pay through the nose. I do recommend progressive though. I have American Family ins. for two cars a boat and our house and have been happy with them untill i compared the rates on my motorcycle. Am Fam quoted me 360.00 for a 1400 intruder, progressives price was 150.00. Thats for a whole year. I am 45 though and have never had a claim in my lfe so my rates should be good. I did get a break from Am Fam when I had a zrx 1100</div><div>though. they wanted to see the bike because they thought it was a crotch rocket but when I showed it to them, they thought it was just a standard motorcycle. For some reason Am Fam didn't have a set of rates for that bike. I really got away cheap. If they only knew what that bike was capable of (lol).</div>

<div>Eh, that is illegal in my state and I'm betting it is in yours as well. If you get pulled over they will want to see your proof of ins. Or are you going to park it until you can afford the ins? Probably not, so let me thank you and your buddy for being selfish idiotic dipsticks.</div>

<div>Don't trust AIS or McGraw / Pacific. After paying $300 to start, I received a bill for $997. My written policy was for $736. They wouldn't pro rate my deposit or give me a refund. White collar crime must pay well for Insurance agents, don't pay in advance like I did.</div>

<div>If you have a good driving record then go with FARMERS. They gave me the best rate after shopping around.</div>
