View Full Version : Goldwing vs. Burgman
On another forum there was a discussion about riders that wanted to switch from one to another.
It got a little surreal to me. What do you think?
It always amazes me how many people complain about shifting! Its not like changing gears is a difficult and daunting task. Heck, flicking up through the gears is one of the best parts about motorcycling!
And car driving, for that matter. Given a choice, I always went with a manual in my cars.

I guess in 9 years when I turn 60 maybe I can trade the 919 in on a Burgman..think they would give me a good deal on a high milege 919?

Not!!
I found it strange that the topic would even come up. It's an apples versus oranges debate.
But, maybe there was something that I was missing.
I had heard of people giving up their Goldwings for the convenience of Silverwings and Burgmans.
Shifting or no shifting was a lesser issue. Maybe it's just me, it does not compute.
I did notice that one person, snave, mentioned that the Goldwing would go Automatic in 2008!
For persons of lesser coordination that may be interesting, as long as you don't care to finesse the clutch in twisties.

I've seen quite a number of them converted to trikes as well. Rumor also has it that Honda will add a fourth wheel in 2008 and sell them as lightweight Accords!

Lightweight Accords!? Now that would be surreal. As far as GW v. Burg? My dad has a GW it is a sight to behold and he loves it. That being said he has admitted he will more than likely end up on a maxi-scooter. He is getting older and it is taking more physical effort to pilot the wing around. Lets face even bare bones those suckers are heavy.
