<div>I've heard different reasons for doing that. Why did <strong>you</strong> have it done?</div>

<div></div><div></div><div>Wow, he does do nice work and it looks &quot;proper&quot;</div><div>I've seen some that end up cracking the rotors over time, but those appear to be chamfered and well done.</div><div>Can we ask how much???</div><p>Of - are those both fronts? If so, is one of them &quot;backwards&quot;?</p><p>Uh oh!</p><p>Message Edited by Honda919Rider on <span class="date_text">01-26-2007</span><span class="time_text">05:15 PM</span></p>

<div>yikes! good point steve.</div><div> </div><div>i would have to think rich has this down though.</div><div> </div><div>i used to buy drilled rotors, never seemed to make any difference to stopping, but it looks trick. maybe in the rain it helped. i am thinking it actually gives you less friction area and would , if anything , increase stopping difference. </div>

The original reason for drilling and sloting rotors was the OLD friction materials on the pads had solvent that would &quot;cook off&quot; making the brakes fade due to the &quot;gas&quot; between pad and rotor. The friction materials used now don't have that problem. So the only reasons to slot or drill now is eliminate water, self cleaning on some of the higher COF (can't find that little Mu thingy on my keyboard) materials, and also to raise the PSI loading on the pads.<br><br>But mostly it's done to look cool. Cracking WILL most certainly happen, it's just a matter of time. Hopefully he didn't chamfer the holes, hopefully he radius'ed them.

<div>I don't know Steve. I've had a shop mess up a simple tire change because they didn't get technical enough.</div><div> </div><div> &quot;People who are too picky on terminology are annoying &quot;</div><div> </div><div>That's not a sign I hope to see in the hall of my doctors office, either. <div></div><div>Steve, $65 each includes shipping back to you. You pay the shipping there. I was getting new tires so thought I'd make the RD400 stand out a bit. The guy has been doing lots of them for the RD guys, no complaints.</div><div> </div><div><div><img width="590" border="0" height="442" src="http://render2.snapfish.com/render2/is=Yup6aQQ%7C%3Dup6%3DzqH%3AxxqUD7qRUrKxzX7BHpUUKx gXPJJ%3F87KR6xqpxQQQaxe00xG0lxv8uOc5xQQQ0oeenaaeaG qpfVtB%3F*KUp7BHSHqqy7XH6gXPJJ%7CRup6lQQ%7C/of=50,590,442"></div></div>

<div>If you get the brakes hot enough they will ALL give-off gasses that need to be vented by either drilling/slotting or both. Plus it shedds water in the rain....which may not be a concern for some folk, but I ride in rain/snow/sleet and this morning in 17 degree weather. Just 1 more reason I bought a bike with ABS.</div>

<div>Hack, I thought about posting in the classic section (which I did) 1st, but this guy will do any rotors and there's more visibility here. I thought it would</div><div>interest cycle world folks in general. Besides, I own two american bikes &amp; rotors are rotors!</div><div> </div>
