Although this is the American section I think there are more people with wheel lacing experience in this section.

There was a version of the 1100R that used 17" cross-spoked wheels. Assuming the number of spokes is the same, does anyone know if you could lace that rim up to a regular spoked hub. The idea is to eliminate innertubes by using the BMW rims.

what it would take is the rim, your hub, and a set of sample spokes from each setup if you are unable to calculate the angles and lengths required to make it happen.
oh and send them here http://www.buchananspokes.com/

I'd say it can be done

That's a slick idea. I love spoked rims and personally don't have issues with spokes and tubes the way many do, tubeless spoked rims do seem a great compromise. What bike is it going on?

My '96 R1100R has cross-spoked wheels. I'd imagine a different hub could be added if the correct length spokes are available. Moto Guzzi's California also has a spoke wheel that uses tubeless tires.
the "correct" spokes aren't "available" to lace that rim except to one or two hubs

spokes can be made to lace that rim to most any hub

I'd say some hubs laced to that rim would only be marginally safe

If the spoke angles are relatively close (and the number of spokes match) almost any hub can be laced to any wheel. The problem with those BMW wheels is the spoke angle. If I remember correctly, they cross from one side of the hub to the opposing side of the wheel. If the spoke angle with your hub isn't close enough, the spokes will never seat in the wheel correctly and may cause stress at their mounting points in the hub.
If anyone would know if this is possible, it would be Buchannans.
