Hi, I need some help. I would like to ask if any one has an idea of where I could find a manufacture for cruise control. I would like to install it on my KLR 650, any ideas any one?

Marker Machine out of Milwaukee produces the Throttlemeister (<A HREF=http://www.throttlemeister.com TARGET='_blank'>www.throttlemeister.com</A>). The KLR application retails for $142.

Way back when I raced desert in SoCal ....<br><br>I used to put rubber bands between the throttle grip flange and the housing. It would increase the friction enough you had to "shut" the throttle instead of it snapping back.<br><br>99 cents for a bag of rubbers at the Dollar store ......<br><br>Oh yeah, had no money back then.

<div>Vista-Cruise also makes one for the KLR (well, it's a throttle lock, not a true cruise control). Here are some mounting instructions from a 650-enthusiast website:</div><div> </div><div><a target="_blank" href="http://www.klr650.marknet.us/vistacruise.html">http://www.klr650.marknet.us/vistacruise.html</a></div><div> </div><div>It's only $25, which is nice.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>If you want to go for the real deal, drop $108 for the Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control unit. From what I've read, it's a bit of a PITA to install, but what you end up with is a handlebar-mounted control unit with functions similar to what you'd find in a car. Here's one place you can buy it:</div><div> </div><div><a target="_blank" href="http://www.murpskits.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_61&products_id=69">http://www.murpskits.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_61&products_id=69</a></div><div> </div><div>And here's a step-by-step from someone who's installed it on his 650:</div><div> </div><div><a target="_blank" href="http://www.geocities.com/kf6qjk@sbcglobal.net/Cruise_Control-p1.html">http://www.geocities.com/kf6qjk@sbcglobal.net/Cruise_Control-p1.html</a></div><div> </div><div>Good luck.</div>

I just discovered an ad in the July issue of the AMA's American Motorcyclist offering an alternative to the Throttlemeister (that I use on my VFR). It's advertised/made by Manic Salamander and has a spring-loaded bar end that's pushed in to lock instead of the bar end turning required by the Throttlemeister. Looks interesting and is slightly cheaper than the Throttlemeister. Website: www.manicsalamander.com. For price and simplicity, though, I guess nothing beats the VistaCruise throttle lock that I have on my KLR.<br><div></div>
