Didn't see that coming - I was thinking the series would trend towards the younger fellows, but, wow.

Message Edited by oldironnow on 03-11-200709:24 PM

Well, we should have seen that coming. He may crash a lot, but Stoner is one of the fastest riders in MotoGP.

Did you see how **bleep** fast that Ducati is off the corners and down the straight?!!

Honda, Yamaha and the rest have some work to do. If Rossi wasn't on that Yamaha, Stoner would've been GONE!

totally ! - it was intense watching the Ducati pull away easily. Even better to watch the Ducati reign in whoever it wanted to....then blast pass them. Oh man, that was great.

Wait until they get to a couple of the tracks with long front straights like Mugello, Catalunya and China! Yikes.

good point - plus Rossi continued to pass him late in the race when his tires were not holding up as well as Stoner's (as far as I have read on MotorcycleDaily.com).

very entertaining on many fronts...from the talent of the riders to the engineers building the bikes & tires
Message Edited by Hoyt70 on 03-17-200711:22 PM

Yo Oldiron- Being a new guy here, what's the protocol on posting results? I noticed you gave warning

but it looks like you edited. Myself, this being the internet, I would have thrown the whole sheet up.

Especially with the warning.

If a friend calls me on his cell phone from Laguna Seca with the results of a National, post or no post?

What happened to Hayden?

motogrady - I guess The Big Rule is don't post results in the thread/topic headline.

That used to drive folks NUTS.

If you want to discuss the race winner or some important facet, the idea is to
warn the potential thread-clicker that the race they have on hard-drive, or tape,
or are going to catch on Tuesday, is all chatted-up inside the thread.

I didn't include results in this thread because if you watched it,
you know who won and to whom I was alluding. But I just pre-warn out of habit in case some new enthusiast comes along and drops the news... Boom.

I usually watch the race on SPEED, check out www.superbikeplanet.com ,
and then head over here if there's something on which to comment.

I figure most folks follow that model; Most fans are going to get the data elsewhere.

Still, the details.

Yes, what of Hayden? At least this season he has a working clutch.

Turkish GP - Ducatis to the front for second practice:
Stoner
Capirossi
Hopkins
Rossi
Elias
within a second

Istanbul is such a great track!

Does the DuC still have a CC advantage this year? (i remember reading somewhere that they were allowed to have a hundred CC more than everybody else due to something or rather... I could be wrong)

But yeah it was funny watching Rossi try to get past him on the twisties only for him to pull away on the straight... that's what won it for the DuC.

Lucas

Must be confused between the Ducati's old SBK days with the weight/displacement break and the new displacement proposal for WSBK.

I think Vermeulen got ripped off again, as he did at Laguna last year. Especially when Chris the V set fast time in next day's practice.

From the V's site: http://www.chrisvermeulen.com/ Says he lost 22 seconds in the wreck, and was 20 seconds off of second place at the end of the race.

“I got a bit boxed in on the first lap and immediately got involved in a battle, but we soon straightened things out. I had just passed Alex Barros when another rider took out Edwards and Pedrosa right in front of me and I had nowhere to go but down. That was the worst part of the race, but luckily my bike was still running and lying on top of Pedrosa’s. I grabbed the clutch, pulled my bike off his and re-joined the race. My handlebar was bent and the fairing was broken but everything else seemed to be fine. I gave it a lap or two to see if everything was ok and then just got my head down and went for it. I started to chase after the other guys and do some fast, consistent laps. I kept it as smooth as I could and managed to get up to 11th. I know I set the fastest lap near the end so who knows what might have happened if I hadn’t have crashed. We now need to take this forward to China, qualify well and make sure we don’t get knocked off again!â€
